AUSTRALIAN AVIATION HERITAGE CENTRE
557 Stuart Highway
Winnellie, Darwin, NT
The Australian Aviation Heritage Centre is located on the perimeter of Darwin Airport in Winellie. It boasts having one of only two B-52s on display outside the USA. This certainly makes a dramatic centrepiece! I have been to this museum and the B-52 is certainly impressive.
There are numerous other aircraft on display including:
Auster Autocar.
Bell AH-1G Cobra
CAC Avon Sabre
Dassault Mirage IIIO
DH Dove
DH Tiger Moth
General Dynamics F-111
Hovey Delta Bird
Mitsubishi Mu-2
Mitsubishi Zero
North American B-25 Mitchell
Rockwell Shrike Commander
Rutan Long EZ
Supermarine Spitfire Mk VIII (replica)
Westland Wessex
There are many other displays tracing the history of aviation in the Northern Territory, Darwin as the Gateway to the North, the bombing of Darwin in WWII and the strategic value of the Northern Territory in the defence of Australia.
