Rockhamton's Archer Park Rail Museum is located a very easy walk from the town centre. It is located in the beautifully restored Arcer Park train station complex. On show are several locos and some rolling stock, as well as fascinating displays detailing the local area and the role the railway played in the development of Rockhampton.
One delightful feature of the displays is the white painted life-size sculptures of figures in period dress. They add a delightful layer of whimy to the museum and, more importantly, have a very humanising effect on what can be quite a dry subject. For me, the figures brought the museum to life!
